Zapateros del La Comunidad 27 Junio "La Puntana" is a Wichí community located in the mountains of Chaco Salteño. From there, ten women artisans from different generations of the family work to keep the ancestral craft of chutsaj (chaguar) alive. All their work is done entirely by hand, with hours of dedication and centuries of history. The production of shoes is a new venture and an opportunity for these artisans, who have experimented with their traditional knowledge and resources to create chaguar footwear. Uncu and Chicco Ruiz collaborate with the artisans through design, transforming their prototypes into usable pieces. Lilia Lukas, the representative and guide of these women, is the eldest, a mother, artist, and custodian of the valuable textile knowledge. The Zapateras del Monte project aims to make a social impact and transform the working conditions of the community's artisans.
