Wine Altos Las Hormigas - Malbec Riserva

Variety: Malbec.

Vineyards: The grapes come from vineyards located on calcareous soils in the Uco Valley, alluvial deposits of the Tunuyán River in Paraje Altamira and Gualtallary. These terraces are characterized by medium and large gravel, covered by a layer of calcium carbonate paste.

Winemaking: The Malbec Reserve 2017 is made from hand-harvested Malbec grapes. During fermentation, excessive extraction is avoided, and only indigenous yeasts are used. The wine is aged for 22 months in un-toasted French oak casks of 3,500 liters, followed by 12 months of bottle aging.

Characteristics: The Malbec Reserve 2017 features spicy notes of white and pink pepper, violet, graphite, red fruits, berries, and underbrush. Complex and long, it is a wine that continues to evolve in the glass, with structured tannins of fine grain that linger on the palate.
