ISCHIA DRESS — ANTIQUE LINEN & FILET EMBROIDERY

A one-of-one dress crafted from an exceptional antique linen textile, where the original handwork becomes the structure and defining element of the piece.

The fabric combines intricate openwork filet embroidery with drawn-thread and hand-embroidered sections, arranged in alternating geometric panels and floral motifs. Rather than using the antique textile simply as a decorative insert, the dress has been carefully constructed around its original composition, preserving the placement, proportions and transparency of the embroidery from front to back. This requires precise cutting and assembly so that the different motifs remain balanced throughout the garment.

The upper section is finished with a softly gathered embroidered band and wide straps. A cotton lining extends from the bodice to above the knee, creating coverage while leaving the lower embroidered panels sheer and allowing the complexity of the antique work to remain visible. Finished with a concealed side zip for a clean silhouette.

An exceptional piece in terms of both the quality of the original textile and the work required to transform it into a contemporary garment.
